We are all born with this tremendous capacity to be anything, and we get shaped by our circumstances. Heroism, courage and resolve are universal attributes of human nature, not as a rare feature of the few. For the many who have made it through hardship and have emerged stronger, you are Battle Born. You are the inspiration for us in creating the Battle Born Grooming Company.
I have never done a product review before because past products I've used have just been 'ok.' I can truly say that Battleborn grooming products are great! They are the only products that work really well on my hair. I have thick, coarse, Italian hair that has mind of its own on most days. I style it in a quiff type hairstyle and the clay and pomade really get the job done for me. I sometimes even mix both together and it works really well. It gives a ton of texture and great hold. Your hair never gets hard or crunchy and it smells absolutely amazing. Battleborn honestly makes the best products! I will be trying the matte paste next and I am expecting greatness with that product as well. I just wish you guys had a Canadian stockist because shipping prices to Canada are terrible. Keep making it, and I will keep buying it!
This clay gives a firm hold to whether towel-dried or blow-dried hair. When I used it on towel-dried hair, it has a more slick look but still a ton of textures. On blow-dried hair and OMG, it's perfect. It's a texture monster. It also held my hair all day and still looks perfect over a good night of sleep. I just wake up and restyle and go out again. It's also really lightweight and not heavy like other clays on the market. It also won't make your hair greasy, which is the main problems of other clays I have used. Washing out of your hair and hands is also a breeze. I only use shampoo my hair one time and it washes everything out. After styling my hair, I just need water to wash it off my hands. Highly recommended for those who love using clay for that natural looking style!!!
I have tried the clay pomade from Battle Born before and I was very impressed. This has similar ingredients so it is very light in the hair and tons of texture. The matte paste also has a firm hold similar to the clay pomade. This matte paste is more slick for me when I apply it on towel-dried hair. Compared to the clay pomade, the clay pomade is less slick. I love both products and would recommend both!!!
I usually add a drop of water to my hands to minimize tug and pull which this product has. the result: product beads up, balls up in my hand, rendering application useless. very disappointing!
Being a person who does not gravitate towards pastes I found myself really liking this product. It’s easy to use and has just the right amount of slickness to make the application easy and just the right amount of hold to use as a standalone product. Endurance and overall use is great as well.
I really enjoyed using this product as my “set it and forget it” type product. Something that I know will hold up all day, and this clay pomade is especially great because it doesn’t weigh my hair down like others, so I won’t have sad hair at the end of the day. A must try!
This hair styling product will always be on my shelf as my everyday go to! More a paste than pomades I was use to, but good hold and love the scent. Customer service is outstanding and happy to support small business!!!
This product walks a fine line in that it works great in dry hair as a clay but also works well in damp hair as pomade. With a few scoops you can finger comb a great dry hair style as well as a great pomp! It has all the best qualities of a clay as well as a pomade. If you’re looking for a brand new product to try you can’t go wrong with this Clay pomade!
From the scent, to the scoop, to the ease of application and styling this matte paste has it all. Classic Bay Rum scent from Battle Born Grooming is amazing. The scoop is super creamy, breakdown is great, it applies to the hair with ease and styling is a breeze. This is a must have for anyone who enjoys quality matte pastes.
This was easily one of the best clay pomades I've used. Awesome bay rum scent that Battle Born is known for, easy scoop, smooth breakdown, easy application and styling. It gives a matte finish that you would expect from a clay, and you can achieve a wide range of styles with it. Use a little for a natural, more loose or casual style or use more for a tight and dapper style with sharp comb lines. You can't miss with Battle Born grooming products.
Great product all around! It has everything I like in a matte paste! Love the packaging. Scent is the classic Bay Rum scent that Battle Born has really perfected. The look, texture, and scoop is great! Break down has a little tug but spreads very nicely. Application is easy. I use a little water or damp hair to let product spread to all hairs evenly. Styling was easy as well. Final styled result is classic. Holds very well and is soft (not crunchy) in the hair. Restyles easy and washes out without a problem. If you're looking for a solid well rounded matte paste....look no further.
Hello guys, gals, and non-binary pals! It's time to review battle born's matte paste. Firstly, let me start with my hair type... I have medium thickness and thick density. What's that mean? My hair is in between fine and thick but I have a TON of it on my head.
Tin (5 of 5) - This product comes in a 4oz amber glass jar with a simple, classy looking label.
Scent (5 of 5) - BAY RUM. If you like bay rum scents, this one is easily one of the best on the market. It's a masculine sweet woodsy scent with a hint of spice. It's SO good.
Scoop/breakdown (4 of 5) - The scoop is really soft, but the breakdown is where this one loses a star for me. It's a tad difficult to spread evenly around my hands, but it doesn't have clumps or waxy bits that take extra pressure and time to breakdown - so that's a plus!
Application (3 of 5) - It's what you would expect from a paste product... since it has superb texture, it also has quite a bit of tug and pull. I don't find it to be an uncomfortable experience but I'm also not tender headed. I can definitely see some people with finer hair feeling uncomfortable during application - hence the 3 of 5.
Styling (5 of 5) - This product is SO easy to style with and its incredibly responsive. Your hair will go where you want and how you want with no trouble.
Endurance (5 of 5) - For my hair type and length (to the tip of my nose, so about 4 inches at its longest) the endurance was excellent. I styled my hair in the morning and went an entire day without having to restyle - of course, I love to finger comb and play with my hair so about 6 hours in I decided to style it differently and it stayed put for another few hours. I'd rate this as a firm to heavy hold if you layer in the product, OR you can get a medium/firm hold with just a scoop or two.
Overall (4 of 5) - This is an excellent product. It gives awesome texture, has a superb hold, and great scent. It's versatility is what really stands out to me... this really can do tight, clean styles or loose, messy styles - it all depends on how much you put in. If you want a 'do it all' type of product - this is the one for you!
Hello guys, gals, and non-binary pals! Here's my review on battleborn's clay pomade... firstly, you should know that I have dyed hair (obvious in the pictures) and my hair type is medium thickness with thick density. What's that mean? My hair isn't fine or thick, it's somewhere in between and I have a TON of it on my head. Okay, now then - let's talk about the product - everything will be on a scale of 5, with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.
Tin (5 of 5) - It comes in a 4oz glass amber jar with a simple, clean looking label.
Scent (5 of 5) - If you're a fan of bay rum, you're going to LOVE this bay rum scent. It's SO good. And if you don't know what bay rum smells like... it's a bit woody and sweet, with a touch of spice. It's on the masculine side, but as a lady, I love smelling it on myself throughout the day.
Scoop/breakdown (5 of 5) - The scoop on this product is soft and the breakdown is very easy - there's no clay clumps or wax balls that require extra effort to breakdown.
Application (4 of 5) - In longer hair (like to the bottom of the lip or longer) its got some tug and pull, BUT it doesn't give tangly ends in my hair. I recently cut my hair to a more manageable length (to the tip of my nose) and there's minimal tug and pull at this length.
Styling (5 of 5) - This product is INCREDIBLY intuitive, once it's in the hair it styles with ease. I've used this product on and off for nearly 2 weeks and its SUPER consistent, which is amazing. I know when I put this in my hair that its going to give me the style I want and its going to be quick so I get on with my day.
Endurance (3 of 5) - Okay, This is where I believe most people will think this product falls short. When I was sporting my longer hair (again, past the bottom of my lip) it would only hold for an hour or so before I found myself finger combing my hair back into position. With my shorter cut, I found that it lasted longer, about 3 hours before I started finger combing my hair back into place. For me, I don't mind restyling so it isn't a big deal - but I know many people who want their hair to just stay - and this product won't last more than 5 without a restyle.
Overall (4 of 5) - This is an excellent product. It's so much better than 90% of the stuff here on amazon. It smells great, it scoops soft, and styles easily. If you're looking for a home-brewed clay, made with care and GOOD ingredients - look no further, you've found a winner.
I love me the matte paste, incredibly smooth and easy to apply, a beautiful texture and finish from the jar as well. It’s perfect for everyday use! Great on my hair when it was longer and shorter.
The scent is fantastic, falls in line with the other Battle Born products that I bought. Same scent. If you are into Pomade’s with a matte finish this will be right up your alley. Easy to scoop, easy to break down, washes off your hands with soap, and comes out of your hair with shampoo. Works well for short to medium hair length.
